Dr. Terrance Hinnant

Terrance Hinnant is a seasoned educator and administrator with a strong commitment to advancing equity and academic achievement in schools. Currently serving as Senior Admin for Secondary Regional Achievement and School Support since July 2024, Dr. Hinnant brings a wealth of experience from various positions within the Wake County Public School System.

In previous roles, Dr. Hinnant was an Assistant Principal driving key initiatives, including observing and providing feedback to teachers, planning and implementing Family and Community Engagement events, and facilitating professional learning focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. During his time as an Assistant Principal, Dr. Hinnat was recognized Assistant Principal of the Year Finalist during the 2022-2023 school year. Additionally, Dr. Hinnant was a Social Studies Teacher and was recognized as WCPSS Teacher of the Year Semi-Finalist in 2017-2018.

Dr. Hinnant successfully defended his dissertation in June 2024 for the Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with an anticipated graduation in Fall 2024. He also holds a Master’s in School Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Barton College.

In addition to his professional roles, Dr. Hinnant has held various leadership positions, including serving as the Assistant Principal Middle School Director for the Wake County Division of Principals and Assistant Principals and being a member of the Wake County Public Schools System Equity Cohort.
